Apocalypter multiplayer: is there co-op?
Apocalypter multiplayer: is there co-op?
No. Apocalypter is a single-player game. The Steam store page lists single-player only, the developer has never announced co-op, and none of the post-launch hotfixes added it. If you want to play with someone else, the only route that exists today is an unofficial mod, and it is not supported by the developer.

This page separates the three things people mean when they search for Apocalypter multiplayer, so you do not install something expecting a mode that is not there.
What the official build supports
| Question | Answer | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player campaign | Yes | Steam store feature list |
| Official co-op or multiplayer | No | Store feature list, no announcement since |
| Splitscreen or local co-op | No | Not listed anywhere on the store or in patch notes |
| Dedicated servers | No | No mention in any release note |
| Was multiplayer added in a hotfix? | No | Hotfixes through October are bug fixes only |
The hotfix run after the 23 September 2026 release — 26 and 28 September, 30 September, 1 October, 9 October — is entirely fixes: physics locking, trailers detaching after load, sleeping, backpack and armor interaction, cassette players, radiators. None of them touches netcode, because there is no netcode to touch.
The unofficial co-op mod
The Nexus Mods listing for Apocalypter had 38 files at the last check on 27 October 2026, running on BepInEx, and that set includes a co-op mod. Treat it as a community experiment, not a mode:
- It is not from SawyerK Games and is not endorsed.
- It needs BepInEx installed first, which means editing the game folder.
- Every player needs a matching game build. The game is on 1.0 with hotfix #7 at the time of writing, and hotfixes have changed physics and interaction behaviour more than once.
- Saves made with mods are not something the developer supports if a later patch breaks them.
If you only want to play with a friend, the honest recommendation is to wait. If you want to experiment, back up your save first — the save and reload notes cover what a bad load does to a trailer build.

Why people think it has co-op
Two reasons, both understandable:
- The mod scene is loud. A 38-file BepInEx scene with a co-op entry reads like official support at a glance, especially in video thumbnails.
- The demo confusion. The free demo is an older, reduced build with one car and one save slot. Players who tried the demo and then read about "shared worlds" assume the retail build expanded into multiplayer. It did not — it expanded the map and the part system.
What to do instead if you want shared play
- Pass the save around. Apocalypter saves are local files, so a friend can continue your run on their machine. That is not co-op, but it is the only supported way to share progress.
- Use the seed list. Comparing runs on the same seed is the closest thing to a shared session the base game offers; the world seeds page has the community list.
- Watch the developer's patch notes. If co-op is ever announced, it will appear there first, not in a mod listing.

FAQ
Can I play Apocalypter with friends?
Not in the official build. Single-player only, with no announced plans for co-op.
Is the Nexus co-op mod safe?
It is a community BepInEx plugin. Nothing about it is endorsed by the developer, and the usual caveats apply: back up saves, match game versions, expect breakage after hotfixes.
Does the demo have multiplayer?
No. The demo is a reduced single-player build with one car and one save slot.
Will co-op be added later?
Nothing has been announced. The post-launch updates are bug fixes, and the developer's public "what I'm working on" list is also fixes — ladders, physics locking, a crash when selling an overheating radiator.
